QPR goalkeeper Alex Smithies says he is happy at the Loftus Road club despite rumoured interest from the Premier League.

The 27-year-old R's player of the year was linked with a move back to his hometown club Huddersfield Town if they secured promotion to the top-flight, but the stopper says he remains committed to the West London side.

Speaking to the Huddersfield Dailly Examiner about his future, Smithies said: "I don't know, it's hard to say isn't it.

“I don't know anything about the rumours but it is my club and in the long-term future who knows what's going to happen?

“Right now I'm happy at QPR and I've got three years left on my contract so I'm in no rush to get out.”

Smithies was one of QPR's stand-out performers last year and signed a contract extension in February which will see him through to the Summer of 2020.
