Neal Ardley could be tempted to bring Matt Tubbs back to AFC Wimbledon – but only if the price is right.

Striker Tubbs enjoyed a successful loan spell with Dons last season, but rejected a contract offer to stay in south-west London in favour of a move to Portsmouth.

Money talked on that occasion, so despite Tubbs being expected to move on again in this transfer window, Ardley believes another suitor will have the financial clout to beat them to the punch once more.

He did admit though it would not stop him making a cheeky offer in a bid to add the 31-year-old to his already four-strong strike force.

“I would be surprised if I could afford him,” he said.

“It depends on what they are looking for, but if there was a chance back end of the window that Matt Tubbs could come into our bracket and I could bring him in would I explore that opportunity? Yes, I think I would.

“It would cause me a problem with selection, but yes I think I would, but I think there are a lot of things that would probably stop that happening and affordability is probably one.”

Tubbs made 22 appearances in his loan spell with the Dons in 2014-15, scoring 12 goal.
