Norwich City will have to go back to the drawing board after their £10million bid for Fulham forward Ross McCormac k was rejected.

The Whites are keen to find a replacement before they sell the Scottish international, who scored 21 Championship goals last season, after losing striker Moussa Dembele to Celtic in June.

Canaries boss Alex Neil is keen to land the proven striker to propel his team back into the Premier League after they were relegated last season, though Aston Villa are also reportedly interested in the 29-year-old.

Neil's offer for McCormack was said to be worth up to £12million, including add-ons, but Fulham are looking for a less incentivised deal.

McCormack, who did not travel to Portugal with Slavisa Jokanovic’s squad, signed to Fulham from Leeds United for £11million in 2014.

The Whites have signed Togo international Floyd Ayite and former Hull forward Sone Aluko this summer, but are looking for a proven forward to match or succeed McCormack's goal tally to help with their promotion quest.

McCormack signed a new contract with the Whites earlier this year to keep him at Craven Cottage until 2020 following reports they rejected a transfer request from him earlier this year.

Odds on McCormack’s departure to Norwich currently stand at 1/10, Aston Villa on 16/1, West Brom on 25/1 and 5/1 for him to stay at Craven Cottage with Sky Bet.

Fulham face newly-relegated Newcastle in their first league game of the season on 5th August at Craven Cottage.
