Dean Smith has insisted there have been no enquiries for Brentford striker Scott Hogan.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Leicester, Hull, Derby and Sunderland have all been interested in the former Rochdale man.

However, there have been no talks with the Bees over their prize asset, who has one goal so far this season after a fine end to the last campaign.

Brentford head coach Smith said: “I don't believe there have been enquiries for Scott. Whether there are any enquiries or not, do I expect Scott Hogan to leave here in this window? No I don't.”

Smith added: “I expect Scott Hogan to be a Brentford player on September 1.”

Hogan scored seven goals in 172 minutes last season after recovering from two anterior cruciate ligament injuries, which worked out as an average of one every 24.6 minutes.

And Smith believes that clubs would be taking a risk if they were to sign a player who is, hopefully, starting his first full season in the Championship.

He added: “People were talking about Scott after a couple of games of the season and before that.

“He's played five games since being out for 18 months. That'd be another risk for anybody. We want Scott around and we're happy.”

Some figures banded about have been approaching £10million and, if offered, it would put the club in a tough position but Smith believes they will be able to hold onto their star striker.

He admitted: “We would. If anyone offers that for any of our players we're in a tough position but I don't expect anyone to offer that.”
