Fulham are reportedly lining up a loan deal for Manchester United striker James Wilson after he was sidelined in Jose Mourinho’s plans for next season.

The 20-year-old was left out of Mourinho’s squad for the Red Devils’ pre-season tour of China.

He struggled to make in impact in his 45-minute appearance against Wigan in Saturday’s friendly and didn’t board the plane to the Far East.

Whites manager Slavisa Jokanovic is looking to strengthen his forward options ahead of his first full campaign at Craven Cottage.

After failing to break through into the first team under Louis van Gaal, Wilson went to Brighton & Hove Albion last November where he scored five goals in 27 appearances.

Mourinho is understood to be happy for the young player to leave for a season in the Championship before returning to compete for a regular first team position.

The new boss will focus on strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in his first campaign at the Manchester club.

With next season drawing near, the Whites’ have already signed Hull City forward Sone Aluko after striker Moussa Dembélé penned a deal with Celtic.
