Chelsea winger Christian Atsu has joined Malaga on loan for the rest of the season.

The Ghana international spent the first half of the season at Bournemouth but failed to cement a place in Eddie Howe’s Premier League side.

Chelsea recalled the player from the south coast in a bid to get him more minutes on the pitch and his experience will now continue on the Costa del Sol.

Blues manager Guus Hiddink said last week : “Players who don’t have much of an option to play, they must get the experience of playing weekly.

“I cannot say much more than this. I spoke with him and asked him to see if he can play somewhere. These guys need to play. Let’s wait and see.”

Atsu joined Chelsea in the summer of 2013 but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the champions.

He spent time on loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem and made five Premier League appearances in a disappointing loan spell with Everton in 2014-15.
