QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink kept his cards close to his chest when discussing the future of Sandro after the Brazilian struck twice against Rochdale in Rangers' 2-1 EFL Cup victory.

The former Tottenham man had not appeared for Hoops since December 2015 and spent the end of last season on loan at West Brom.

The Brazilian is keen to find a new club and, although Hasselbaink refused to confirm if any offers had come in, he insisted he has no problem with the QPR midfielder.

"Sandro played well. He's fit and he wanted to play," Hasselbaink said. "I've got no problem with Sandro and he's got no problem with me. We are working very well and he's been very professional.

"He came back a little bit later after pre-season which is why we had to nurture him a little bit.

Happy: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

"Sandro sees himself as a Premier League player and we need to help him to get there or the Champions League with a club in another country.

"That's what he wants and you have to respect that. But I am working with the players who want to be with us in the Championship.

"Sandro is a good player who has played at the highest level, and physically he is in the right place."

Rangers were far from convincing at times, going behind to Matty Lund's fifth-minute header before Sandro twice netted from right-wing corners from Tjaronn Chery.

"It's important that we are in the hat for the next round . That was the main objective," said Hasselbaink.

"It was also good to see how we responded after the Rochdale goal - how we played at times and the courage we showed."
