Furious Harry Redknapp is ready to wield the axe at Loftus Road after QPR’s embarrassing League Cup exit to Burton Albion.

Rangers are bottom of the Premier League following Sunday’s 4-0 hammering by Tottenham and Redknapp’s boys found no solace at the Pirelli Stadium.

Adam McGurk’s free-kick was enough to seal a 1-0 win for the hosts and book their spot in round three of the competition against Brighton.

Redknapp made 10 changes for the cup tie with the Brewers and handed Adel Taarabt his first start in a Hoops shirt for more than a year.

Taarabt was one of the few players to impress Redknapp on the night and the R’s manager hinted he had run out of patience with some of the squad.

He said: “I gave the lads who haven’t been playing an opportunity to show me what they could do and they showed me it wasn’t an awful lot.

“We look off the pace still. We look like we’ve got a few players still trying to get their match fitness.

“We saw one or two tonight who I don’t think are going to get in my team and are better off moving on.”

Shaun Wright-Phillips was the subject of criticism from the QPR supporters in attendance at the Pirelli.
