Fulham have signed Motherwell defender Shaun Hutchinson on a free transfer.

The 23-year-old towering centre-back rejected a new deal at Fir Park to become Felix Magath's first summer signing as he rebuilds his squad following relegation.

“It was a difficult decision to leave Motherwell and I had to really think hard about it," said Hutchinson, who racked up almost 150 appearances for the Scottish side.

“It has been a fantastic apprenticeship for me and I am very appreciative of what everyone at the club has done. The fans have also been brilliant and I want to personally thank them for their support.

“However, this is a great opportunity at Fulham and I can’t wait to get started. “

Hutchinson has signed a two-year deal at Craven Cottage, with the option of another year.
