Palermo are interested in signing Fulham’s World Cup star Bryan Ruiz.

The Costa Rican was instrumental in leading his country upset the odds to the quarter-finals in Brazil before losing on penalties to Holland on Saturday night.

Ruiz spent the second half of last term on loan at PSV Eindhoven and is expected to push for a move away from the Whites following their relegation to the Championship.

Sky Italia claim newly-promoted Serie A outfit Palermo will offer him an escape route.

Ruiz still has 12 months remaining on his Fulham contract and would require a fee, however Craven Cottage insiders last month told Get West London the playmaker would be going nowhere.

Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Jesse Joronen has signed a new two-year contract that keeps him in west London until the summer of 2016.

The promising 21-year-old played the second half of the 3-0 friendly win over East Fife on Saturday after replacing Marek Rodak between the sticks.
