Fulham look set to miss out on Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle, with the front man set to stay at St James' Park until at least January.

The 26-year-old was reportedly the subject of a £15million bid from the Whites, but according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, he looks set to remain at the club until at least January.

He said: "As the clock ticks down you have to say that Dwight Gayle will remain a Newcastle player.

“The reason for the wait is that they were trying to bring in a replacement. They haven’t been able to do that and will need Gayle to compete with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Joselu for a place up front until January at least.”
