Marcello Trotta has been told to report to pre-season training as usual as his Fulham future remains in the balance.

The Italian striker scored 13 goals in 40 games during a successful season-long loan spell with Brentford as they won promotion to the Championship.

Bees boss Mark Warburton wants to sign Trotta on a permanent basis, but the 21-year-old still has another 12 months remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage.

Cottagers chief Felix Magath has promised an injection of youth into his squad next season following relegation from the Premier League.

The German got a first glimpse of Trotta in training earlier this month before the frontman jetted off on Brentford’s end-of-season jaunt to Las Vegas.

However, the former Napoli frontman's future remains unclear with talks now scheduled for next month.
