Brentford midfielder Akaki Gogia is returning to Germany.

The 24-year-old is in advanced discussions with SG Dynamo Dresden after spending just one year at Griffin Park.

Gogia was one of many one of many foreign signings last summer who were seen as ones for the future but were pitched in straight away due to player sales in west London.

He failed to get to grips with the English Championship but the winger was still seen as a promising prospect who may have been able to kick on next season.

Dynamo’s Sport Managing Director Ralf Minge said: “Our goal is to bring Andy [Gogia] as soon as possible to Dresden, because it would be a real gain for our team.

“We are pleased that there has been the possibility to these specific calls, and hope to conclude them positively in the coming days.”

Gogia signed a four-year deal with Brentford after joining from Halleschen last summer but fell out of the picture under Dean Smith and struggled with injury problems.

He will leave Griffin Park having made 13 appearances in the Championship and one in League Cup as part of the side beaten 4-0 by Oxford a year ago.
