Forest Green Rovers 1-2 Barnet

Barnet recorded their fifth straight win under Ulrich Landvreugd and Dick Schreuder to jump up to third in the Conference Premier after a stunning 2-1 win away to Forest Green Rovers.

Mark Byrne gave Barnet an extremely early lead before Dani Lopez doubled the away side’s advantage three minutes before the break.

Marcus Kelly hammered home a late free-kick for Rovers but it was too late to stop the Barnet charge as the Bees climbed the table.

There were three changes to the side that beat Wrexham at the weekend, with Mauro Vilhete, Ahmed Abdulla and Lopez coming in for Elliott Johnson, Charlie Adams and Keanu Marsh-Brown.

Banet got off to a dream start, taking the lead after just 22 seconds. They rampaged forward from kick-off, with Kieron Cadogan's sublime low ball into the box being swept home by centre-midfielder Byrne.

The half lacked chances, with Banet being extremely solid defensively, but this did not stop them from doubling their lead with half-time approaching.

In one of many expansive passing moves, Cadogan cut inside and whipped a pinpoint cross onto the head of Lopez, who scored his first goal for the club since re-joining for his third loan spell.

Two minutes into the second-half and Barnet could have made the points safe. Marsh-Brown latched onto a defensive error, rounding Sam Russell in the home side's goal, but the stopper was able to tip the winger's lofted effort over the bar.

Deep into added-time and the hosts grabbed an equaliser. Kelly curled a fantastic free-kick into the  top left-hand corner of the goal, well beyond the reach of Nick Jupp. However, it proved nothing more than a late consolation as Barnet held on for the win.

With fellow play-off contenders Cambridge United, Gateshead and Grimsby Town losing, the win saw Barnet jump up to third and will be looking for a sixth consecutive win at home to Woking on Saturday.

BARNET: Jupp; Yiadom, Stephens, Gjokaj, Vilhete (Johnson); Abdulla, Byrne, Weston; Cadogan, Hyde (Marsh-Brown), Lopez (Mengerink).
