Farnborough boss Spencer Day has not given up hope of signing Hayes & Yeading defender Dean Inman.

The centre-half spent half a season on loan at Cherrywood Road from Hampton & Richmond in 2012-13 before making the move to United last summer.

He became a crucial part of Phil Babb’s team, marshalling the defence and wearing the captain’s armband, but couldn’t prevent the club sliding through the trapdoor.

Day spoke with Inman weeks ago about the possibility of a Boro return and made an offer to Hayes & Yeading for their skipper’s services in early May.

Transfer target: Dean Inman

It was rejected by United, however the Farnborough manager maintains his belief that the rock solid central defender can be snared.

Day said this week: “Yes, Inman is still a target but he’s on holiday and remains a Hayes & Yeading player.

“They are in the process of appealing their relegation from the Conference South so it’s still very much up in the air.

"We’ve got bigger things to deal with right now.”

A decision on Hayes & Yeading’s relegation appeal is expected before the end of next week, with the FA having received all the paperwork at the weekend.
