Alejandro Faurlin did his chances of a Fulham contract no harm when the former QPR legend was part of a Whites team that hammered Preston 5-0 in Ireland yesterday.

It was the last game of the Whites pre season training camp and matches on the Emerald Isle, made greener by the incessant rain throughout at their Fota Island base near Cork.

The Argentine midfielder named as 'trialist' in the starting line-up played 45 minutes before a different XI, such is the experimental style of July friendlies, finished off the demolition.

Faurlin has been training with Fulham for the last two weeks as he bids to be season-start ready, either with Fulham, or another Championship club ready to take over his services.

Agent Lucas Cominelli admitted there were two other Championship clubs interested in the 29-year-old, one of whom is understood to be Brentford.

A brace from Cauley Woodrow and a Sone Aluko goal on his first appearance for Fulham before the break, and a Matt Smith second-half double did for North End.

On the receiving end was former White Ben Pringle, who moved to Deepdale last week.
