Neal Ardley is hopeful of having two more players signed up by the time his AFC Wimbledon squad return for pre-season training on Monday.

The Dons boss has so far added five new faces to his squad after a mass cull at the end of the campaign

Ardley still wants to add four more to the group and is close to getting a couple of the deals over the line.

He said: "There's one that's close to being done over the next few days.

"We're almost there with another deal too. We're just waiting for the player to have a medical once he gets back from holiday."

Ardley has brought in experienced strikers Matt Tubbs and Bayo Akinfenwa in the past fortnight and is on the verge of adding a third, younger frontman to his ranks.

However, that won't be former loanee Kwesi Appiah or Brentford striker Luke Norris, who was on the radar earlier this summer.

No deal: Luke Norris is unlikely to be coming to Kingsmeadow

"We want to add some different qualities to what we've got," added Ardley.

"We are looking to to get a third striker who will play 20-25 games, but Kwesi's probably beyond that now.

"Will he want to come back here and play second fiddle?"
