Filipe Luis remains desperate to join Chelsea this summer despite reporting back for pre-season training with Atletico Madrid.

The La Liga champions began their preparations for the new football season yesterday and Blues transfer target Luis took a full part.

Jose Mourinho is looking for a new left-back after allowing veteran Ashley Cole to Italian side Roma on a free transfer this summer.

He has already seen one bid of £12million knocked back by the Champions League finalists but today returned with an improved £15million offer after being encouraged by the player.

Luis has made it clear he wants to sign for the Blues and Spanish newspaper Marca claims the Brazilian added fuel to the fire after yesterday’s session.

He refused to dismiss the possibility of a move and could only say “we’ll see” when questioned directly by reporters.

Madrid boss Diego Simeone is holding out for the full £19million value of the full-back’s buyout clause and is prepared to drag out negotiations if necessary.

Unsettled Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku could yet be included as part of a deal, admitting last night that he does not want to spend another season on loan.

Frustration: Romelu Lukaku wants first-team football and has spoken to Madrid officials

“What I don’t want is to be loaned out,” said the big Belgian.

“I am 21 and I have been loaned for the last two seasons. Thibaut Courtois was loaned for three seasons and will be without doubt the first-choice Chelsea goalkeeper.

“And Kevin De Bruyne has been transferred permanently to Wolfsburg. They are free in their heads - it is not my case. That would free me totally.”

Chelsea have already signed Diego Costa from Atletico this summer and have also been linked with a surprise move for former Blues midfielder Tiago.
