Dean Smith has maintained that he still rates Konstantin Kerschbaumer and has held no talks with the Austrian about a move away from Griffin Park.

Sturm Graz have been reportedly in talks with the Brentford midfielder's representative over a January deal.

Kerschbaumer has only made three appearances so far this campaign, playing for a total of 58 minutes and is understood to be growing increasingly frustrated at his lack of playing time.

That said, the only conversations he has had with Smith have been about how he can improve and force his way into the starting XI rather than being on the bench.

The Bees head coach said: “Kersch has been a constant member of the first team squad and on the bench.

“He's not been utilised as much as he'd like. He's a young player from a different country coming into a physical Championship.

“I rate Kersch and wouldn't be looking to let him go. The only conversations we have are about how he can improve and how he can get into the team. He puts the effort in every day and he's great to work with.”
