Wantaway Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is expected to complete a move to Wolfsburg in the next 48 hours.

The 22-year-old is understood to have agreed terms on a five-year deal with the Bundesliga club after telling manager Jose Mourinho he needed to leave Stamford Bridge.

De Bruyne’s opportunities have been limited in West London and the Belgian is keen to get regular first-team football in order to secure a World Cup spot with his nation this summer.

He spent a productive loan stint with Werder Bremen last season, scoring 10 times and earning rave reviews, and is looking forward to returning to Germany this month.

Transfer target: Chelsea want Nemanja Matic

An initial fee of £17million is close to being agreed between Chelsea and Wolfsburg, which will only leave paperwork to sort out as personal terms have already been concluded.

Meanwhile, Mourinho is acting quickly to bring in a replacement for De Bruyne and is hoping to add Nemanja Matic to his midfield ranks.

Matic only joined Benfica two years ago from the Blues as a makeweight in the £21million deal struck with the Portuguese giants to bring David Luiz to England.
