Big changes in Chelsea’s front line have improved the club's chances of major silverware this season, according to boss Jose Mourinho.

Out went Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres , the latter on loan to AC Milan.

In came, Diego Costa, Loic Remy on the cusp of deadline day, and Didier Drogba - to something of a hero’s return .

Now the Special One believes the squad is the better for it.

He said: “We had a good group of strikers last season, but we change three for three and we believe this three give us more in relation to the football we want to play.

Gone: Fernando Torres left this summer

“Remy was one of the players we had in our objectives. We were not sure immediately but we were ready in case a space opened.

"Now we have a guy like Didier who is a box expert and the kind of striker who finds the box his natural habitat.

“Remy is very fast. He attacks spaces and can play from the side like he did for France. Diego is a player that we were chasing for about a year. We were waiting for him and he’s a player that fits the style of play.”

Mourinho begs to differ with Liverpool’s medical assessment of Remy.

The France striker is raring to go, and unlike the checks he failed at Anfield, the £10.5million acquisition passed all the necessary examinations insisted by Blues.

Fully fit: Mourinho has no fears over Loic Remy's condition

In fact, Mourinho hinted the Merseysiders were less than discreet about the player who eventually made the three-mile switch from QPR.

The manager said: “If the player loses his medical I think it should be something very personal between the player and the club but the way almost every club does it, it looks like the medical is not a private situation.

“I don’t know why he (Remy) failed the medical. We don’t have Liverpool’s medical report. In this club, the medical responsibilities start with Paco Biosca (medical director).

“He did his job but surrounded himself with opinions of specialists in different areas. The final conclusion was the same as the France medical department before the World Cup. The player has no problems.”
