Chelsea midfielder George Saville wants to extend his loan spell at Brentford for the rest of the season.

The highly-rated 20-year-old has featured 16 times for the Bees since making the temporary switch from the Blues in the summer, scoring a stunning strike in the win against Colchester last month.

Saville, who is yet to make a first-team appearance for Chelsea after progressing through the ranks, is due to return to Stamford Bridge in January when his current deal expires, but wants to stay at Griffin Park beyond the new year.

He said: “I love it here. It’s great to be getting games and playing good football.

“I had a bit of an injury and a dip in form, but I feel I’m getting better with every game. You want to play in front of big crowds and pick up three points. There’s more pressure.

“Chelsea are keeping tabs on me – Eddie Newton and Jody Morris come and watch me and give feedback.

“Things are going well and I’d be willing to stay on. We’ll have to sit down before then and see what the best thing is for all parties and go from there.”

Loan star: Saville has impressed during his time at Griffin Park

Saville starred alongside Jake Reeves in the middle of the park in Saturday’s FA Cup win against Staines Town.

And the youngster hopes to stick around long enough to emulate last year’s run to the fourth round, after the Bees were handed a trip to Boreham Wood or League One Carlisle United.

He added: “Playing in the FA Cup is always something I wanted to do since I was little, so to play was great.

“Hopefully we can have a good run. The boys played Chelsea last year, but we’ll take it game by game.”
