Chelsea World Cup star Kenneth Omeruo is set to rejoin Middlesbrough next week.

The 20-year-old started every game for Nigeria in Brazil this summer and has been tipped as a rising star in the Blues ranks.

Omeruo spent last season at the Riverside and played 14 games under Boro manager Aitor Karanka in the Championship.

A strong centre-back, Omeruo enjoyed his time on Teesside in 2013-14 and has publicly expressed a desire for another loan stint in the north east next season.

Middlesbrough expect the defender to report for training at their Rockliffe Park training complex next Wednesday (July 30) while the rest of the Chelsea squad tour Europe.

Meanwhile, the Blues have today allowed another young  gun to leave the club on loan.

Attacking midfielder Mario Pasalic, signed from Hajduk Split earlier this month, has agreed a season-long move to Spanish side Elche.

The 19-year-old passed a medical at Elche and trained with his new team-mates yesterday. He was presented to the media this lunchtime.

Pasalic enjoyed a breakthrough year at Split last term and scored 11 times in 36 appearances to help his club secure a third-place finish in the Croatian League.
