Petr Cech is set to leave Chelsea for Arsenal in the coming days leaving Jose Mourinho with a hole to plug in his squad.

The legendary keeper played second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois for much of last season and will need replacing if his £11million transfer goes through as expected.

Who can the Special One turn to as he searches for a new backup pair of hands to Belgian ace Courtois at Stamford Bridge next term?

GetWestLondon has taken a look at a few potential candidates for the role. View our gallery below and then read on for the lowdown on each of the players.

Marcus Bettinelli

Marcus Bettinelli has been on Mourinho’s radar since April.

The 21-year-old emerged as first-choice at Craven Cottage last season and is entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Mourinho visited the Cottage to make a personal check on the England U21 international in a 1-1 draw with Rotherham towards the back end of the Championship campaign.

Rob Green

Rob Green was one of QPR’s better performers as they were relegated from the Premier League last season.

The 35-year-old earned himself a recall to the England squad this summer and, like Bettinelli, would help bump up Chelsea’s home-grown quota.

Boasting bags of experience in the top flight, Green’s age would make him a cheap option and is certainly a name in the frame should Cech eventually go to the Emirates.

Swap deal? Stoke stopper Asmir Begovic

Asmir Begovic

Another player entering the final year of his contract, Asmir Begovic has long been linked with a move to the Bridge.

Begovic is still only 24 though and would command a larger fee, somewhere in the region of £8million, than Hoops star Green.

Chelsea’s forgotten man Victor Moses spent last term playing alongside the Bosnian at the Britannia Stadium and has been touted as a possible makeweight in a deal for the keeper.

Vicente Guaita

Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita is another name to have cropped up in Chelsea’s planning for life without Cech.

Guaita is an unknown quantity in the Premier League and would represent more of a gamble than the previous three names mentioned.

The 28-year-old joined Getafe from Valencia last summer and has made an impression in La Liga.

Training: Jamal Blackman, Didier Drogba and Eden Hazard

Jamal Blackman

If Mourinho wants to save a few quid this summer then he may need to look no further than the club’s Cobham training ground for a new bench warmer.

Jamal Blackman trained with the first-team squad at the end of last season after being recalled from an unproductive loan spell at Aitor Karanka’s Middlesbrough.

Mark Schwarzer’s departure to Leicester opened up a space as Blues’ third-choice shot-stopper in January and the Special One turned to the tall Croydon-born custodian.
