No sooner had Chelsea boss Antonio Conte demanded performances from the curent squad - the rumour mill has been churning at a rate of knots to produce a slew of expensive names for January.
The Blues boss wants those in place to produce results now, but if most of the reported targets fetch up, they will make a sizeable dent in the fortunes of owner Roman Abramovich.
It would be something of a contrast to the pennywise mantra of the summer, when Chelsea spent a relatively modest £113m plus change on four players including the re-signing of David Luiz - but still less than transfer windows of the past.
The new names:
Antoine Griezmann
The France and Atletico Madrid star striker has apparently got an £88m release clause that would make the Spanish capital's other giants a club transfer record fee.
Already, Griezmann has six goals from six La Liga appearances to go with 22 from 38 last term.
But the slight 5ft 9ins forward has know little else than Spanish football, and one should wonder out loud whether he would withstand the tougher Premier League.
In terms of physique, he's no Diego Costa.

Leonardo Bonucci
Chelsea defensive woes are well documented, so a centre back to replace the ageing John Terry and the lack lustre Gary Cahill is an easy guess.
Managers also like what they know, and the £50m rated Bonucci is still at Juventus where Conte left him when the Italian boss left the Old Lady in 2014.
But that kind of money for a 29-year-old? The price will have to be better.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Has clocked 3.7 seconds for 30 metres, which makes the French-born Gabon international razor fast by any standards.
However, he has a contract at Borussia Dortmund until 2020 and he bagged 39 goals in 49 games.
And he's carried that form into the new season, registering seven times since August, and Dortmund want north of £65m for him.
