Chelsea have opened talks with Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, according to reports.

The striker was a Premier League flop last season on loan at Manchester United but is desperate to prove he can cut it in England.

We told you last month that the misfit had been offered to the champions and now tentative talks between the two parties have taken place.

Falcao is paid more than £250,000 a week by the Ligue 1 outfit but the Mirror claims the misfiring forward is willing to take a huge pay cut to move to Stamford Bridge.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho prefers to run with three senior strikers in his squads and has a space for Falcao following the departure of Didier Drogba,

The Colombian would be behind Diego Costa and Loic Remy in the pecking order, at least initially, but shares an agent with Mourinho, Jorge Mendes, which could help smooth the deal.

Falcao is keen to resolve his future before the Copa America but Chelsea are also believed to be weighing up a move for Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke.
