Chelsea have sounded out Barcelona winger Pedro, according to sources in Spain.

The 27-year-old only penned a new five-year contract at the Nou Camp in June but is open to offers after failing to nail down a first-team place.

Barcelona are littered with superstars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez and Pedro has been unable to dislodge any of the world-class trio.

Pedro’s release clause is set at more than £100million but the La Liga giants are understood to be willing to accept bids in the region of £22million this summer.

Spanish newspaper Sport claims Blues manager Jose Mourinho and Cesc Fabregas have made contact with the forward about a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho made the same personal contact with Fabregas, a former team-mate of Pedro’s, when signing him for the west Londoners last year.

Barca’s capture of Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid is said to have pushed Pedro further towards the exit door, although the Turkish ace cannot join up with his new clubs until January.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City have all previously been linked with the two-time Champions League winner but Chelsea are now the favourites for his signature.
