Chelsea are planning to loan Patrick Bamford out to a Premier League club next season to continue his development.

The 20-year-old striker spent last season with MK Dons before testing himself in the Championship with Derby County.

Scouts flocked to watch him score the opener in Wednesday's 5-0 friendly win over Wycombe Wanderers in front of watching Blues manager Jose Mourinho.

He took his goal superbly at Adams Park, volleying home Nathan Ake’s left-wing cross in the first-half, and was full of running against the League Two Chairboys.

A number of English second-tier sides are keen to take him on loan but the Blues want him to try his luck in the top flight next season.

They have already secured the services of Diego Costa this summer and are in the market for another forward, pushing Bamford further down the pecking order.
