Jose Mourinho has rubbished reports Chelsea are set to launch an audacious transfer bid for Lionel Messi.

Widespread rumours this week have claimed that the Barcelona superstar is ready to wave goodbye to the Nou Camp in the summer.

Some stories have suggested Messi’s friendship with Cesc Fabregas has seen the Blues jump to the front of the queue for his signature.

However, the Special One was quick to deny the Stamford Bridge club are in the running for the all-time Champions League record goalscorer.

“My reaction is that your world changed so much that our world also changed so much,” Mourinho told reporters this afternoon.

“I think, in this moment, it's so easy, so easy to have non-truths circulating.

“It's so easy that some people put news without confirming or speaks about rumours. Obviously it's not true. Obviously it's not true.”

Chelsea are preparing to take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light tomorrow evening and Mourinho will only be missing Nathan Ake for the clash with the Black Cats.

“It's difficult to say [why we have few injuries],” Mourinho added.

“We also struggle to keep them fit. We work hard to try the best, but I think it's a bit of everything, including luck. You need also a bit of luck.

“We are not free to have problems like the others.

“We are not in conditions to say we don't care about a certain competition, or this match is not so important as the next one or the previous one.

“For us, every competition is important. Every match is important. So we don't rest people.

"We try to play with our best team. We need a bit of luck, also.”
