Real Madrid are weighing up a January move for out-of-favour Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of Cech from his time as Blues boss and has placed him on a shortlist of potential replacements for Los Blancos No 1 Iker Casillas.

Casillas fell down the pecking order last season but won his place this term.

However, the Spaniard’s recent performances have been well below-par and a section of the Bernabéu crowd have turned on their former favourite.

The Daily Telegraph claims Madrid are ready to send Casillas back to the bench and bring Cech out of the cold at Chelsea and into one of the world’s biggest football brands.

Cech, who has fallen behind Thibaut Courtois in Jose Mourinho’s plans, last week warned he would have to seek showdown talks if the situation did not improve at the Bridge.

Patience: Cech has had to wait for his chances

He told Czech Radio: “I think they know me well enough at Chelsea to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine.

”With the European Championships in 2016 and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play.

“I have not spoken to anybody at the club but if the situation will not start to improve for me then I will want to solve it."

Obstacle: Thibaut Courtois
