Chelsea will continue to push for a deal with Roma despite Radja Nainggolan’s insistence he is happy in Italy.

Incoming manager Antonio Conte has made the Belgian midfielder one of his top transfer targets this summer.

The Italy manager has already spoken personally with Nainggolan about joining him when he takes over in west London after Euro 2016.

Chelsea are last night understood to have increased their offer for the 28-year-old to €35million and are determined to sign the mohawk-haired star.

Nainggolan was questioned about his future at Belgium's Euro 2016 training camp in Bordeaux and revealed he had indicated to Roma president James Pallotta he could stay.

“I said to him I love where I am playing so why not stay?” Nainggolan said of his conversation the president.

“Chelsea were talking but at the moment there is nothing.

“The Premier League is a big competition, it’s lovely, but I think sometimes in life you need to make choices, and all I can say is that I am happy where I am.”

Nainggolan scored the only goal as Belgium beat Sweden in their final Euro 2016 group game earlier this week.

Roma are likely to hold out for a higher fee after rebuffing Chelsea’s interest in their tenacious midfielder so far.
