Guus Hiddink has confirmed Matt Miazga and Alexandre Pato are on their way to Chelsea.

Pato arrived in London on Wednesday and only paperwork is holding up the completion of a loan move for the former AC Milan striker.

New York Red Bulls defender Miazga emerged as a transfer target this week and will join the Brazilian in putting pen to paper before Monday’s deadline.

Hiddink said of the American: We’re not rushing but he will be one of the squad members for the future. He’s a young guy, stepping up to the national team.”

The fee for Miazga is thought to be as low as £2million with the centre-half entering the final 12 months of his contract in the Big Apple after turning down a new deal.

Pato’s move has been questioned by some, with suggestions the former wonderkid is past his best, but Hiddink only sees the positives in making the move.

Hiddink added: “It’s not a gamble because coming on loan let’s us see if he can adapt to the demands. We’ll give him all of the help we can.

“If you buy players who must make the next step then it’s more of a risk. We’ll see if the club is happy with him in the upcoming months. He cannot be fully fit yet.”
