Jose Mourinho will not be asking the Chelsea board to invest in new players this January.

The Special One has come under pressure after overseeing the club’s worst start to a Premier League season since Roman Abramovich took control in 2003.

Mourinho’s side are way off the pace and lie down in 16th after the first 12 fixtures of the campaign and need to put points on the board quickly or risk missing out on Champions League qualification.

Reports have claimed the Portuguese could be ready to swing the axe when the transfer window opens and make changes to his squad in a bid to halt the slide.

However, the Chelsea chief says he has no need to cleanse his dressing room and is happy to continue with the players at his disposal.

"I am happy with my players," Mourinho told reporters during his Friday press conference.

Players linked with Chelsea ahead of the January window:

"I trust the players. I don't need to clean the dressing room. And I don't need to ask the club to spend money in January."

Mourinho was more upbeat than he has been in recent weeks as he prepares his team to face relegation candidates Norwich tomorrow.

Chelsea will have home advantage and the Special One thinks the support of the west London crowd will help his champions return to form and help keep things sweet with Abramovich.

He added: "Obviously the power is in the hands of the owner and the board, I think they show the players and me they trust us and it's time for us to give a positive answer.

“I think we are doing this but not in the results.

"I believe the good moment will arrive. I think in a couple of weeks Falcao is back from injury, Courtois is back in December too so we really believe good things are waiting for us."
