Antonio Conte hopes that Diego Costa's performance, capped with a goal, will end the speculation about his Stamford Bridge future.

Tianjin Quanjin owner Shu Yuhui were keen to bring the Spaniard to China in a deal that would be worth £30million a year to Costa.

Talk of the deal would have continued but for a change in rules to limit foreign players meaning Costa is set to remain at Stamford Bridge.

"This situation has brought a change to our signing plans," said Shu.

Diego Costa celebrates

Costa missed last week's 3-0 win over Leicester after a row with Antonio Conte, although Chelsea claimed this was due to injury.

And he marked his return to the starting XI with a goal, celebrating by imitating talking with his hands.

Conte said on the celebration: “I didn't see it because I was celebrating with the bench. When we score, my celebrations are very dangerous for my staff but it's important to score the goal and to then celebrate any way.

“It's important Diego played a good game and I hope this finishes the speculation about him as well as me and him.

“We showed we are a team with a great unity and I think this is the real value as we stay on top of the table.”

A new contract would end all speculation over Costa but Conte is seemingly unprepared for this to occur just yet.

He added: “Diego has two years on his contract before it expires and I think that his contract ends the speculation.

“He's very happy at Chelsea. For us, it's very important to concentrate on the present and not look too far in the future because if you do, we risk losing the present.

“I don't know about a new contract. We have to take the decision together with the club but I don't see any problem with Diego and his contract.”
