Chelsea have reportedly agreed a £29million fee with Leicester City for the transfer of N’Golo Kante.

The Blues are keen to bolster their midfield options and moved to open talks with the Foxes after Kante’s Euro 2016 ended in defeat with France on Sunday night.

Antonio Conte arrived at Cobham this morning for his first day as manager and has so far been unsuccessful in recruiting his top transfer targets.

Michy Batshuayi was signed for £33million from Marseille but is yet to be joined by any other new faces at Stamford Bridge.

Conte made a personal attempt to convince Radja Nainggolan to leave Roma this summer but the Serie A giants played hardball over their valuation of the Belgian.

He retains an interest in the midfield destroyer but is now closer to securing Kante, with Le Parisien claiming a deal has been agreed with the Premier League champions.

Set for a reunion at Man United? Jose Mourinho talks to Cesc Fabregas

Chinese club Shanghai SIPG had bid £35million for the tireless Frenchman but the Leicester hero has his heart set on the Blues.

The Foxes star turned down a new £100,000-a-week deal at the King Power and should take little convincing to move to the English capital.

Kante, 25, joined Leicester from Caen less than a year ago for £5.6m and was a key cog in their title-winning machine under Claudio Ranieri.

But while Kante looks certain to join Conte’s revolution, question marks have been raised over the future of Cesc Fabregas.

The Spain international was way below par last season and has been linked with a reunion with former Blues manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Mourinho and Fabregas have both openly admitted they have kept in contact since he was sacked by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich back in December of last year.
