Bristol City have extended the loan of Fulham striker Matt Smith until March 1.

The 25-year-old has smashed nine goals in 12 games for the League One club since joining on an emergency loan deal at the end of November.

Smith's spell at Ashton Gate was due to expire this month, but Fulham have agreed to let him stay at City for the maximum 93-day period.

The former Leeds United frontman has struggled since his £500,000 move to Craven Cottage in August and has been restricted to just three appearances for the Whites.

Smith endured a nightmare debut when he was sent off after just 18 minutes in the 3-0 defeat at Reading in September.
