Newcastle are leading the race to sign former Brentford striker Andre Gray, according to the bookmakers.

The Bees frontman moved to Burnley in the summer of 2015 and the west Londoners have a sell on clause believed to be in the region of 20 per cent.

Tottenham and Everton have been tipped as a possible destination for the frontman, who has scored 10 goals in 36 games this season.

But Newcastle are the favourites with BetVictor and are rated as 5/2 favourites.

The Magpies will be keen to strengthen their side after winning promotion from the Championship while the attraction of playing in front of over 50,000 fanatical Geordies would surely appeal to Gray.

Everton, who are set to lose main striker Romelu Lukaku, are second favourites to sign Gray at 3/1 with West Brom in third at 8/1. West Ham, Aston Villa, Brighton and Crystal Palace are all priced at 12/1.

Newcastle are also favourites to sign Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney.
