Burnley's Premier League survival has resulted in a financial windfall for Brentford.

Part of the deal that took Andre Gray to Turf Moor included a clause that would see the Bees benefit if the Clarets won promotion and stayed in the Premier League.

With Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Hull taking the drop it means that the west London club will cash in.

This was confirmed by Luton Town, who had a 20 per cent sell on clause when Brentford signed Gray in the summer of 2014 and it is likely there is a similar clause in the deal that saw James Tarkowski join Gray at Turf Moor.

A Hatters statement in August 2015 read: “Should Andre contribute to Burnley’s success, resulting in a successful Premier League spell then we will also benefit further - to the tune of up to £700,000.”

The windfall will add some extra funds to the Bees, who have one of the smallest budgets in the division.
