Brentford are tracking young Arsenal winger Chris Willock with the intention to take the 18-year-old on loan for the season.

The Bees have been in desperate need for a wideman this summer but, at this moment, have yet to sign a player for that position.

But Brentford are now closing in on the highly rated 18-year-old as the Gunners believe a spell in a first-team squad will be beneficial for his development.

The loan system has changed for this season with clubs only able to borrow players during the official transfer windows in August and January. In the event of a goalkeeping crisis, teams can still sign a player on an emergency loan.

The Bees have had a number of players on loan from the Gunners in the past 10 years with the likes of Wojciech Szczesny and Jon Toral having successful spells at Griffin Park, while Chuba Akpom and Rhys Murphy had less joy in west London.
