James Tarkowski believes Brentford teammate David Button has the ability to play in the Premier League in the future.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper has put in a number of impressive performances so far this season and has kept 11 clean sheets in 48 appearances for the Bees.

Button has recently been linked with a move to Premier League side Aston Villa, and it comes at no surprise to Tarkowski who considers him to be the best goalkeeper in the Championship.

He said: “He’s definitely got the ability to play in the Premier League in my opinion.

“He’s the best keeper in the league from what I’ve seen this season - he’s been outstanding from start to finish.

“You see a lot of keepers these days that are good at one thing and lack something else but Button is a great all-round keeper, he can kick it and he can command his area.

“He’s made great saves throughout the season too, one of them being on Friday (versus Middlesbrough) against Adomah when he put it into the top corner and Button plucked it out.”

Speaking ahead of Friday’s Championship play-off semi final second leg, Tarkowski was keen to point out the strong relationship that he considers himself, Harlee Dean and Button to share.

He added: “We have a good relationship – me, Harlee and David get on quite well and its always good to have that when you go onto the pitch.

“You get to know and read each other quite well, he has his little strops at times when he doesn’t get his own way but he’s a good goalkeeper to have behind you.”
