Brentford have agreed a deal to sign former Almeria midfielder Marcos Tebar.

The 28-year-old Spaniard started his career at Real Madrid before loan spells at Rayo Vallecano and Girona, where he went on to make more than 100 appearances after penning a permanent deal.

Tebar signed for Almeria last summer, featuring 25 times for the La Liga outfit, however, he left the club earlier this month and has agreed to sign for the Bees on a two-year contract with the option of a third year.

Boss Mark Warburton told the club's website: “We have tracked Marcos for the last 18 months and we hoped to sign him last summer.

“He comes to us having played the majority of games for Almería in La Liga – the Spanish top flight – last season.

“He has been playing against the best teams in Europe and has shown his quality. We are delighted that Marcos has decided to join us.

“In the meetings we have had with him he has shown us his passion for the game and the project we are evolving at Brentford.

“He is keen to play a major part in how the club moves forward. Marcos is a very talented midfield player, excellent tactically and technically.

“I am sure he will be a very valuable addition to the squad.”

He becomes Warburton's second summer signing following the capture of Alan Judge.
