Brentford are set for an unbudgeted financial windfall with former striker Andre Gray set to sign for Premier League side Watford for £18.5million, according to our colleagues at the Mirror.

The Bees are understood to have a sell on clause in the region of 20 per cent of the profit of any deal.

Burnley paid £9m for Gray, including add-ons, when they signed the striker from the west Londoners in August 2015.

And, were the deal to go through, it would mean that Brentford would receive an additional £1.9million, although this would not be invested in new players, at the moment, due to Dean Smith being happy with his squad.

That money could reduce the need for the Bees to cash in on some of their leading talents with the west Londoners also receiving a financial boost from Burnley staying up last season.

The 26-year-old is due to undergo a medical after Watford met Burnley’s asking price for a player who is in the final year of his contract.

West Brom, West Ham and Wolves had all tried to sign Gray but Watford last night had got their man.
