Brentford are keen to bring Adam Forshaw back to Griffin Park on a loan deal from Middlesbrough, GetWestLondon understands.

The former Everton man left the Bees a year ago for Wigan after a drawn-out transfer saga but, after a difficult six months at the DW Stadium, moved on to Boro.

He was part of the squad who saw off Brentford's challenge in the play-offs last May, but did not feature as Boro were thrashed 3-0 in the final against Norwich.

Forshaw's time at the Riverside has been a frustrating one and the midfielder has only made six starts since his January move.

He was big part of the squad as Brentford won promotion to the Championship and was League One player of the year in 2014.

During his first spell at Griffin Park, including his original loan move, Forshaw made 89 league appearances, scoring 11 goals.

Brentford are in need of an extra body in midfield after Jonathan Douglas' departure and injuries to Jota and Josh McEachran but the Bees reportedly face competition from Championship rivals Wolves and Derby.
