Ryan Williams has been told to look for another club after Brentford have told him he doesn't have a future at Griffin Park.

The Bees midfielder made just one appearance for the club, coming in the 4-0 drubbing against Oxford United, and has not featured for the club since then.

Williams had a reputation as a free kick specialist but has not done enough to impress Dean Smith, who has told him to find a new club.

The Brentford head coach said: “Ryan has been looking for another club at the moment. We don't think he's going to be competing for a place in the squad at the moment.

“We're more than happy to help him find a club to go on a permanent deal.”

Once at Morecambe: Ryan Williams

Williams joined the club after his release from Morecambe in the summer on a one-year deal. He had made 61 appearances for the Shrimps in two and a half years.

Brentford admitted in September that the signing was a risk but the move has not paid off.

Co-director of football Phil Giles said at the time: “We got recommendations on Ryan. He is a very good technical player and striker of the ball.

"We took him on a one-year contract because we weren't certain about what level Ryan would be able to play at. We've been really impressed by his attitude. He's a good professional to have around the squad.”
