Brentford will look to bolster their injury-hit squad by bringing in players on loan.

The Bees are likely to be missing a host of players until October's international break and could only name four outfield substitutes against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night as well as two goalkeepers.

Brentford head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen will be stressing the need for reinforcements in his meeting with co-directors of football Phil Giles and Rasmus Ankersen.

He said: “I have a meeting with Phil and Rasmus and we'll talk about possible loans as we're struggling on the bench so we'll see what is possible.

“I don't know how long Philipp (Hofmann) is out. I think, attacking wise, we're short in numbers there.

Brentford's lengthy injury list has been brought about by a number of factors, including bad luck, but Dijkhuizen suggested that some have been caused by the need to adjust to the fast and furious pace of the Championship.

He added: “The guys from abroad have found it very difficult. We've already had a couple of injuries already.

“I'm concerned about that the players who haven't played Championship last season or never like Maxime Colin and Marco Djuricin have played a lot of games in a short space of time. We've not got a lot of choice at the moment.

“I see what the game brings. It's very hard and the players see it by themselves. All the new guys are struggling.

“Maybe last season was the same with Jota but now he's injured. We had to take Marco off 15 minutes from time (at Middlesbrough) otherwise it'd kill him.”
