Brentford chief executive Mark Devlin has insisted that Jota will remain a Bees player over the course of the upcoming season.

The Bees triggered a one-year extension on the wing wizard's deal at the end of last season but that hasn't stopped the Spaniard being linked with a move away from west London.

Burnley are the favourites for Jota's signature but Devlin was, once again, adamant that the 26-year-old will not be going anywhere.

The Brentford chief executive told Sky Sports: “No. As far as we're concerned, Jota will be playing his football at Griffin Park next year.

“It's the silly season and there will be a lot of conjecture about players who performed well for their clubs last year.

“Jota came back into the side in January and was fantastic for the final few months of the season.

“It's no surprise that he's catching the eye but, as far as we're concerned, Jota and the rest of the squad will be back in pre-season training on Monday, looking to push on and get higher than the 10th place last year.”
