Dean Smith has confirmed that Brentford has received no contact from Premier League champions Leicester City for striker Scott Hogan.

Reports have linked the Bees frontman, who scored seven goals in 163 minutes in the final few games of last season with the Foxes after recovering from two anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

And Smith shot down suggestions Claudio Ranieri's side has made any form of enquiry for the Brentford striker.

Speaking after Brentford were beaten 1-0 by Peterborough in a pre-season friendly, the Bees boss said said: “I've received no contact from Leicester. I'm sure there might be reports that Chelsea after them – there's been nothing.”

Hogan hasn't played 90 minutes for Brentford since joining in the summer of 2014 and, for Smith, he would be amazed if the Champions League bound Foxes would take a risk at this juncture, despite his impressive form at the back end of last season.

The Brentford head coach added: “I'd be amazed if a team like Leicester, who are the Premier League champions, came in for a player who has not played 90 minutes in over 18 months.”
