Exeter manager Paul Tisdale has revealed that Brentford are one of a host of clubs chasing striker Ollie Watkins.

The Bees have reportedly made a bid for the frontman but face a battle for the 20-year-old's signature with the Grecians demanding a seven figure fee for their star player.

Watkins broke through at St James Park last season and scored nine goals in 22 appearances for the club after making his first appearance in October.

And Tisdale is hopeful that Watkins will commit his future to the club and is preparing for the new season with the striker firmly in his plans.

He told the Exeter Express and Echo: "The only thing I'd say on that is that there's somehow awareness that Brentford are interested but I can assure you that there's plenty of other clubs.

"Like with all these things, for any player to move there needs to be three parties happy with the deal – the buying party, the selling party and the player himself.

"Until that happens, I have to say at the moment, we're pretty happy Ollie stays with us and develops his game further.

"He's set for a very good career and we've had this situation a number of times before with plenty of other players and we'll have it again.

"We're becoming quite adept with dealing with interest from other clubs for our players and Ollie is in great form and I'm sure it's not likely he'll be moving soon.

"I'm concentrating on him being ready for the start of the season."
