Brentford will look to extend the loans of Sergi Canos and John Swift from Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.

The Spaniard opened the scoring in the 4-2 win over Huddersfield, while Swift impressed since joining the club in October.

And Dean Smith would like to see the pair remain with the club for the rest of the season.

He said: “I want him to stay for the rest of the season. I think he's enjoying it here. He'd love to stay so it's about us talking to Liverpool and get things done.

“I'm good friends with Alex Inglethorpe who is the academy director at Liverpool. I'll be in touch with him.”

Canos' enthusiasm has caught the eye and the 18-year-old was clearly out to prove a point after being rested against Cardiff in midweek.

Wanted: John Swift

He added: “He's been really bright. I didn't play him at Cardiff as I didn't think the pitch would be good for him.

“He looked fresh today. He's an 18-year-old kid and he doesn't want to be rested but he gave me a great response with his goal and performance.

“He doesn't look like a typical Spanish wide player. He likes the physical side of the game. He's a ball carrier but he's got tricks as well. He's enjoying it here.”

Swift scored in the 3-2 loss in Wales and Smith is keen to see the Chelsea youngster stay for the rest of the campaign as well.

He explained: “We had a discussion on how he was doing with Chelsea when the youth team were playing at Cobham on Thursday. Those discussions are ongoing but he's fitted in well as well.”
