Cambridge United have signed Brentford defender Aaron Pierre on loan until January 4.

The 20-year-old has made just two appearances for the Bees first-team this season and is well down the pecking order at Griffin Park.

Aldershot Town were weighing up a move for the Southall-born centre-back last month, but a switch to the Recreation Ground failed to materialise.

However, we revealed yesterday that Conference leaders Cambridge were interested in taking the former Fulham youngster on loan to boost their defensive options heading into the busy festive period.

And United chief Jez George has moved quickly to wrap up the deal before today's 5pm deadline.

Meanwhile, Bees defender Alfie Mawson has joined Conference Premier side Luton Town on loan until January 4.
